There is not a regular restaurant at Al Sorat Farm, but if people call ahead by at least 24 hours, they can ask to be put on the list for a buffet lunch that is served about 2 pm. There is only one service and the menu varies according to what is on sale at the local soups and from the local farm suppliers, the phase of the moon, and the mood of the women in the kitchen.
There is generally a chicken dish with a number of vegan or vegetarian side dishes that may be traditional recipes, fusions of Middle Eastern and other cuisines, or just a riff on an idea that might be inspired by China, India, Mexico, Greece or North Africa. Dishes are prepared to be consumed by delicate children’s palates, but some of the farm’s chili sauces are usually available. Everything is cooked from fresh local ingredients.
Visitors also have the option of bringing their own food either prepared at home or to be barbecued on one of the grills at the farm. There is as well a baladi bread oven and a sweet potato oven at Beit Renenet, if someone wants to use them. We supply the charcoal and wood for the grills and fires as well as the grill racks.
Whether visitors eat here or not, they are welcome to visit the herb and vegetable gardens to pick items for a flat per kilogram fee to take home.
